Kim Kardashian Files for Divorce from Kris Humphries

For once, the tabloids appear to have gotten it right: Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from Kris Humphries.

Multiple headlines have screamed over the past few weeks that the 72-day marriage was in trouble, and TMZ now reports that celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser has been hired to complete the legal paperwork.

Kardashian will cite “irreconcilable differences” as the basis for the split.

Kim and Kris were married on August 20, in a ceremony that reportedly netted them at least $15 million. There is a pre-nuptial agreement in place. The couple is also co-starring on season two of Kourtney & Kim Take New York, a clip from which shows them fighting. Read more…

Though it has not gotten very much press to this point in the 2011 season, the story of New York Giants linebacker Mark Herzlich in his battle with cancer is an incredible one. Herzlich has been in a place that not many people have (surviving cancer), never mind professional athletes.

Bearing this in mind, Herzlich has reached out to former TCU and current New England Patriots offensive linemen Marcus Cannon. Cannon was diagnosed with cancer just before the NFL draft this past spring. The Patriots were compelled to select him anyway.

Despite reports that Cannon could possibly practice during training camp, he suffered a setback.

Enter Herzlich. According to the Boston Herald, Herzlich made it a point during his bye week to offer words of encouragement to Patriots offensive linemen Marcus Cannon.

“I think the biggest thing is he’s going to want to go back and do everything right away,” Herzlich told Karen. “I was the same way. You have to mentally pace yourself and know that, ‘I’m going to try my hardest to do everything I can do,’ but you can’t get down on yourself if everything isn’t working perfectly. It takes time. It takes training. It takes using muscles you haven’t used in a while. So for him, (the message is) stay positive, because things aren’t going to go perfect every time. Eventually, it’ll get back to where you want to be.”

As Giants 101 covered earlier (with Jonathan Goff), it can be difficult for a football player to come to grips with the fact that you have to sit on the sidelines and watch your team play. There is not much that a player can do besides rehabilitate and hope for the best.

“Rehabilitate and hope for the best” takes on a totally different meaning for players like Cannon and Herzlich.

Herzlich reiterated to Cannon that if he were to sit out the remainder of the 2011 season that he should not consider that a setback.

All of us here at Giants 101 are pulling for Marcus Cannon. Hopefully both Cannon and Herzlich go on to have fantastic, productive careers for their respective teams.
